Viagra, also referred to as sildenafil, helps the muscles relax and thus boosts circulation of blood to some particular areas of the body. The product is commonly used to counteract impotence in men. Another brand of Viagra called Revatio is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension and to boost exercise resilience in both men and women. As a pre-warning, you must never take both sildenafil and Revatio at the same time unless your doctor has Okayed this.
Do not take Viagra if you are taking any nitrate drug for chest pain or heart problems. Such drugs include nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, and isosorbide mononitrate. The same nitrates are found in most recreational drugs such as amyl nitrate or nitrite (“poppers”). If you take Viagra while taking nitrate-rich drugs, you will come down with low blood pressure complications. If you sustain an erection for more than 4 hours after taking Viagra, you should visit a doctor immediately. If your erection lasts more than 4 hours, this condition is called priapism which may result in a host of medical complications that may lead to sudden loss of eyesight.
As such, you should liaise with a medical practitioner before you embark on the use of Viagra. Let your doctor clear of any symptoms that might suggest the drug may not be compatible with your body system. For instance, if you have been diagnosed with any complications in the past, you should not consume this drug unless you first visit your doctor to substantiate whether or not the cardiac complications have been permanently put to rest. This includes conditions such as stroke and congestive heart failure.
In the same vein, those that have had blood pressure issues should not use the product until their doctors allow. Other conditions that do not allow people to take this drug include kidney failure and leading to complications such as hemophilia. Renitis pigmentosa and physical deformity of the penis are among some reasons why you should not consume this drug unless you have received an express go-ahead from a certified medical practitioner.
Note that Viagra can decrease the flow f blood to the optic nerves of the eye leading to total or partial loss of sight. This has happened to many people who consume Viagra. Most of the victims had heart diseases or blood pressure issues. It is assumed that such people disregarded the advice f medical practitioners regarding the same or went ahead to take the drug without first seeking the nod of chartered medical authorities.
Again, you should see a doctor immediately you experience the signs of Viagra allergy. In the same vein, consumption of the drug should be immediately stopped once possible symptoms have been noted.
When finally given the go-ahead to take the product, you should stick to the instructions that you have been given by the doctor. The sachets that bear the drug also come with manufacturer’s instructions regarding the use of the drug. Whenever you think you do not understand any part of the instructions, you should consult instead of using your layman’s discretion. Even as you follow the instructions, you should have your senses alert to the onset of any possible side effects.
